The actor behind legendary real and fictional characters like Batman, Doc Holliday, Jim Morrison, Iceman, Simon Templar, and Nick Rivers has lived an fascinating life and is now struggling with throat cancer. Val, the new documentary from Amazon Prime combines current footage of Val interwoven with decades of Kilmer’s own home movies to tell the story of his life and career.

Val will premier at the Cannes Film Festival this week with a release in theaters July 23rd and on Amazon Prime Video August 6th.
