The Decemberists Release “The Better Part Of Bravery”, Written For LAIKA’s New Movie Wildwood

The Decemberists have shared their first new music in two years with the new track The Better Part Of Bravery. The new song closes LAIKA’s upcoming stop-motion epic Wildwood and also appears on the film’s soundtrack.

This isn’t just a song on a soundtrack. The connection between the Decemberists and this film is stronger than that. Wildwood, LAIKA’s is based on the acclaimed 2011 novel written by Decemberists frontman Colin Meloy and illustrated by Carson Ellis.

“‘Wildwood’ has been part of my life for many years, and seeing the story transformed like this has been an extraordinary experience,” says Meloy. “Writing the song for the end credits gave me a chance to return to the world of ‘Wildwood’ in a different way. There’s something particularly meaningful about having music accompany the audience as they leave the forest and the story comes to a close.”

Directed by Travis Knight (Kubo and the Two Strings) LAIKA’s Wildwood will and opening in theaters October 23
